Many children face months, even years of abuse, but the length of the abuse does not always follow the seriousness. One incident of abuse can be fatal. Micah’s abuse was not long term, less than 4 months, and hasn’t happened since September 27, 2007 when he was admitted to the hospital suffering from Shaken Baby Syndrome. And that is where the three month old remained, in a vegetative state, until he was released in April 2008 to the care of his grandparents. There he stayed until he passed away two weeks later from his injuries.
Harman-Derosier initially told police that he slipped and fell with Micah, causing the infant’s injuries, but he subsequently told another inmate that he had shaken the baby when he wouldn’t quit crying. According to Greenfield police, doctors at the time determined that the baby sustained a bilateral retinal hemorrhage, broken tibia and severe head trauma, all consistent with intentional abuse.
Police initially charged Micah’s father, Michael J. Harman-Derosier, 24, with child abuse and the charges have now been upgraded to homicide.
Micah’s maternal grandparents have posted a video about their precious grandson that was so tragically taken fom them.

hi I’m Michael’s little brother I’m not as old as you probably think I am but i really cant choose if mike really did kill Micah but if he did he’s a word that i won’t say.Micah had a whole life ahead of him and its not his call to take that away but like i said i don’t know if Michael did.

Hi, I am the Maternal Grandmother and I know the FACTS of the case and the OVERWHELMING Evidence say’s Michael Harman DeRosier did Shake my grandson to Death and his remorse is he got caught. Now an update he is facing on a PLEA DEAL 2nd Degree Reckless Homicide meaning 15 years with 10 years Supervision. Thank you for your visit; I can not even imagine the pain you must feel over the loss of your precious grandson. As I write these stories, I find more and more cases like Micah’s where one moment of insanity ends the potential for a child to grow and impart joy on so many.
I never believe that those who take the life of a child ever receive justice for their crime. There is nothing that can be done to them that can bring back your grandchild; no amount of time that they spend in jail can make up for the time your were cheated out of by the death of Micah. All I ever hope for is that those who kill children never have another opportunity to do it again.
Again, my deepest sympathy on the loss of Micah.
